⤵⤵⤵STONEWALL ROMANCES (1979)⤵⤵⤵
Artist Christopher Cole visited QAW in January and brought along a rare copy of
Stonewall Romances, a zine published in 1979 for the tenth anniversary of Stonewall. It features a photo-novel-style recreation of the Stonewall riots (with John Lurie as a cop), the poem “Change for a Dying Queen” (with an image of Marsha Johnson), “Meat Rack Memories” by Elmer Kline, an interview with the founder of the Oscar Wilde Memorial Book Store, and an interview with S.T.A.R. (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) founder Sylvia Rivera. We photographed the zine and made
this PDF for the QAW reading room.
